Taking part

Can I/my child join?

You/your child may be able to take part in the EMPA-KIDNEY® Kids Study if you/they:

  • Are 2–17 years of age.
  • Have been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease.
  • Are taking medication for your/their condition for at least 30 days.
  • Have not received and are not scheduled to receive a kidney transplant.
  • Have not been diagnosed with type 1 or type 2 diabetes.

If you/your child meet(s) these criteria, contact your nearest study centre. At the study centre, you will discuss the study in detail and find out whether you/your child can take part.

What is informed consent?

Prior to any tests, you must agree to and sign an informed consent form, or ICF. This document explains the study in detail, including potential risks and benefits, as well as your/your child’s rights and responsibilities as a study participant.

Is the EMPA-KIDNEY® Kids Study right for me/my child?

Taking part in clinical research requires careful consideration. Before you decide whether to participate, make sure that you understand any potential risks involved. Keep in mind there is no guarantee that you/your child will receive medical benefit from taking part in this study.

The study team will answer any questions you may have to help you make an informed decision. Remember, participation in clinical studies is voluntary. You are free to leave at any time and for any reason, without facing penalties.
